He Māori?
He Māori? is an auto-biographical solo work created by local actor and playwright, Isaac Martyn. It is Isaac’s journey of introspection as a Māori and Pākehā man. He explores exactly what makes a person Māori and his struggles to proudly wear his culture on his sleeve. What is “normal” when two cultures collide in the same space? Through waiata, kōrero and physical performance, Isaac creates a picture of his identity for the audience; he invites them to sit in the uncomfortable but often amusing dissonance of living on both sides of Te Tiriti.
He Māori? is coming to BATS Theatre in Wellington Thursday 7th - Saturday 9th November @ 6.30pm.
There is a special school matinee performance on Thursday 7th November at 11 am.
The show is approx. 50 minutes and tickets for the school matinee are only $10 per person.
The show is also being live-streamed to the world for Solo Play Day: an international collaboration with the West Theatre Association in Kiev, Ukraine. Supported by TAHI: New Zealand Festival of Solo Performance.
