Workshop Info:
Over the workshop everyone will play a series of games which subtly teach the core elements of Clown Performance – Playfulness, Listening, and Openness. You or your young person will barely notice they're learning these foundation skills as they laugh and have fun playing classic games with little clowning twists.

These Clowning Workshops are based on the clown training Amy received at the John Bolton Theatre School and Feminist Clown Posse.

Amy’s Teaching Info:
I’ve been a theatre educator on and off for 9 years. My training includes Feminist Clown Posse with Anya Tate-Manning and Tessa Waters, John Bolton Theatre School, a Bachelor of Arts in English and Theatre Studies, and an Advanced Associate Diploma in the Teaching of Speech and Drama with Speech New Zealand.

I taught Speech and Drama at Tall Poppies Collective, under the guidance of Del Costello, for three years. Since then I’ve worked as a puppeteer, led workshops at Toi Whakaari, and continued to learn by attending theatre, film, and puppetry workshops whenever possible.
My teaching fundamentals are empathy, communication, and joy. I work to create kind spaces where young people can explore performance in their own time with support. Students should leave the workshop feeling joyful and calm and having discovered something new about the world of Clown.
